About the author and company
Hank Schrader, owner of Tangible Results, has served as a coach and fitness expert since 1991. His company specializes in producing sports products and advice for winning coaches.
Coach Schrader graduated from West Point in 1971; earned a masters degree in physical education from the University of Washington in 1981; and, taught physical education at West Point for 3 years. During the last two years of his 20 year military career, he taught in the U.S. Army Physical Fitness School.
After retiring from the Army, he took over as Head Coach of St. John's Military Academy (WI) (1991-1993). He rebuilt a losing team during those 3 years into a state playoff team, and developed seven all-conference athletes and three college level players. As Offensive Coordinator, he directed an innovative run and shoot (one back offensive) that averaged 272 yards a game (157 rushing, 115 passing) and 23.3 points per game in the 1993 season.
He next served as the Defensive Coordinator at Brookfield Central H.S. (WI) from 1994-1997. He designed and executed game plans that shutout five different opponents; was position coach of two All Conference Defensive Tackles; led the league in total defense twice and helped lead the team to ‘96 & ‘97 Div II State playoffs. He was selected Asst. Coach of the Year (1997) for the Greater Metro Conference.
His most notable achievement was as Defensive Coordinator of Bellevue H.S. (WA) in 2000 and 2001. He developed a defense that led KingCo 3A (10 team league) in Total Defense (yards allowed) in 2000 with a 6-3 record, and was position coach of all conference defensive back, who was also named Defensive Player of the Year. In the 2001 season, he helped lead the Wolverines to their 13-0 record, KingCo 3A Champions and 3A State Champions. His defense had 3 shutouts (1 in a playoff game); led the league in yards allowed and had an average of 8.15 points allowed per game, even though starters rarely played past the third quarter. All eleven defensive starters earned All-KingCo Recognition, a league record.
In 2002, as newly hired teacher, he was volunteer booth coach\position coach for the varsity team at Westbury HS (TX). He served as Defensive Coordinator in 2003, where he helped the team achieve a 3-7 record.
